I interviewed with Postmates last week and my recruiter just called and said I'd be getting an offer. She kept asking me for my comp and didn't want to share any numbers on her end. She wants me to end my other interview I have (Facebook, Pinterest, Dropbox) and asked what number it would take for me to accept that. What is Postmates comp structure? Do they offer bonus? Does their options mean anything? Shouldnt I be offered RSUs as well? What other things can I negotiate?
Signing bonus Relo Health insurance Choice of project or team Lots of stuff to talk about
Postmates can be bankrupted any moment. Uber is eating their lunch. Their app/backend/support is from stoneages. Try Airbnb and Lyft. Recruiter askiing your current comp is a red flag, she will be preparing to extend just little more then your current comp.
Not necessarily. Also don't hesitate to inflate your current numbers to your advantage. Take this as an opportunity.
Stargate are you claiming Uber recruiters didn't ask for your current comp? OP you're in a great negotiating position if you actually want to work there.
That's not uncommon if they want you If you want to be there Throw a large but reasonable number at them or tell them to wait until you have other offers in hand so you can evaluate.
Good advice guys, she offered $10k in options. What does that mean?
It means you make $10k times percentage that stock increases over the vesting period. If the stock decreases then it is worth nothing.
10,000 options?
Haha, they also pulled the same tricks on me, asking me to end all my other interviews. Obviously I did not do this. I finished all my other processes first and kept the offer negotiation going. Never give the first number. Read and religiously follow this article and its follow up post. http://haseebq.com/my-ten-rules-for-negotiating-a-job-offer/ Our recruiters like to play hardball but this is a great company. I love working here, it's still got the startup feel, the pace is fast, the barriers to doing things are low, and there are tons of low hanging fruit.
Interesting, when do you think Postmates will IPO or some other liquidity event?
2018/19
Don't stop interviewing. That would be foolish. Their offer isn't going to evaporate, no matter what she may try to lead you to believe.
Also, Postmates doesn't look nearly as good on a resume as Google, FB, Amazon, MS, LinkedIn, etc.

Just out of curiosity, why would you leave Google to postmates? Their reviews on Glassdoor are pretty bad
The negative Glassdoor stuff is mostly from couriers and a CS team that doesn't exist anymore.
Can you explain your comp structure xujy26?
