I’m in the interview process at KPMG and a few other tech companies. Should I make the move to management consulting or stay in tech marketing? My background: I have 5 years of tech marketing experience in enterprise IT and cybersecurity. I’m a technical digital marketer - managed $20m+ marketing budgets, SQL-proficient. I graduate with my MBA in April from a top tier and hoping to command more. #consulting #marketing #compensation YOE: 5 TC: $100k
Whats the startup?
Both are bad offers, keep looking
Avoid KPMG. You will thank me.
Agree, specially FS
What does “top tier” MBA mean? M7? Top 20?
#3
Wharton should land a much better salary than that. Underpaid at both
For an MBA that seems like low TC. just my two cents.
Agreed haha…
Not being an ass but “top tier” MBA and KPMG don’t belong in the same sentence. You definitely can command more esp in this labor market, as others have already noted.
Their top 3 bschool is not Wharton but an online MBA from University of Florida. Do you still think KPMG doesn’t belong in the same sentence knowing that? Lmao
You’re going about this all wrong. Two VERY different companies/opportunities. you should be asking very different questions.
I reread this again. Top MBA, managed 20M+, how are you getting low balled? Are you timid on interviews? Why aren’t you networking with people from your top tier school?
This.
Right? Makes 0 sense.
If your MBA is from a top 3 school HYP, there’s a set scale for mba hires which would be way above 115. At 5 YOE, you should command 125 minimum as Sr Associate level. Where are you located? And what group at K?

I definitely want stability after my MBA. I’ll have decent loans to pay off so a stable non-startup job is ideal. I know my comp is low, but I’m based in Florida, I took a 20% pay cut when I left SF and took this job. Either way, I’m not happy here, know I deserve more so I’ll keep looking until I get it!
