Hey Blind community, I have a first round interview with Square for a product marketing manager position. Can anyone provide any more details on what to expect and how to prepare for Square? Thanks 🙏 #marketing
Stalk your panel. Read up on culture memo.
Hi, can you elaborate on what is meant by “culture memo”? Thanks
Same question
I'm looking into a similar role at square. Did you just resume drop or get a referral, and what's your YOE and background?
Hi, I just resume dropped. I have about 20 yoe.
I personally have not but I would love to know how it went as I am trying to shift from PM to PMM in my career. Keep us updated :D
I am trying to move from PM to PMM also. Not many people trying doing this. Generally it’s other way around. I know off topic here, curious about your motivation? 😬
Why are you trying to go PMM?
I’m applying to same role I have 40 yoe
How would you manage to get a visa then
I’m looking for a PMM, role similar to what square is looking for. DM me if interested. Can move fast with the right candidate. I’m not at Amazon - recently left for a better opportunity/money/culture.
Location?
SF Bay Area, Atlanta, Portland, Seattle or remote
Am trying to break into PMM and y'all keep saying you guys got 100 YOE ffs where do I go with my poor ass 3 YOE 😭😂 Anyway, all the best OP!! :)
What’s your current role, yoe?
I am a PMM with 15 YOE, 10 of them as an engineer and 5 as a PMM
i interveiwed there for a few roles and there was a consistent theme around data and their culture of data-backed decision making. The homework assignment felt a lot like spec work. It was actually three projects in one. And be sure to be able to explain your methodology if you make assumptions in the homework assignment. I was also asked a totally rando question from the PM. It was what’s a book you would recommend and why. The team I interviewed with was moving to a Single Treaded Owner model. Which is what Amazon had also done when I worked there. So my take was they were vetting me for being able to drive the business, not just run your part of it. Best of luck to you!
Got it. What exactly Isa single treaded owner model?
sorry. meant to write Single Threaded Owner. typo
I interviewed for a PMM role there. They have both an inbound and outbound (growth) PMM role. Questions will vary based on the role, but I agree with the previous sentiment: it’s all about data, especially research and segmentation. I screwed up in the case study round and thus didn’t make it through. SQ PMM is a dream, though. Great company and product suite.
what’s the major work of an inbound one?
Representing the voice of the customer and market - so lots of research, market and competitive analysis, and synthesizing it into insights for product, messaging and positioning, and launching new products.
They will definitely ask about collaboration with product, how you approach building out a go to market plan, and conducting user research. That would definitely be some key things to think about! But that’s pretty typical PMM so would imagine you’re already prepping that
Thanks 🙏
Hi @rvsx87 are you still at square? If so, mind if I DM you, have a couple of questions
