so all essential items such as housing, rent, groceries, utilities have doubled in last decade but salaries haven’t changed. How a family can manage this ridiculous inflation. Dollar is getting stronger compare to other currencies but within US purchasing power of dollar almost halved in last decade. Healthcare costs have doubled and companies are finding innovative ways to reduce health benefits and full time employment. I am in mid thirties and feeling hopeless and anxious all the time thinking about future that I am getting older and if I lose a job I won’t be able to find another good paying job in tech due to age discrimination and it will lead to financial hardships. It seems companies and hiring manager prefer young generation because they are cheaper and won’t complain about WLB. On top that in tech there is a constant pressure to keep learning new tools and technologies to be able to stay competitive and it is harder and harder to find a time and motivation while managing job and family. I fee like I want to run away from expensive NY-NJ and go live in a place where cost of living and housing is manageable with similar salary. What are your thoughts folks? How do I find positivity and enjoy the life? #burnout #depression #mentalhealth #anxiety TC- 120k base
Stagflation
30 with a TC of 120k? That is your problem right there....
No its not. $120k is a lot of money in most places in the US. Unfortunately, people decide to live in expensive places. Its hilarious to see college graduates complaining about their first jobs only getting a low six figure TC.. how pathetic. You folks really dont understand how good life is when only a handful of companies are offering this type of TC to new graduates.
I live in Florida...ya $120k is solid here but this dude is whining about day to day expenses so I am assuming he lives in a high COL. He should be pulling $300k+ and this would be a non issue...
welcome to inflation.. this is what happens when printed money pays the budget shortfalls and gambling habits across the US, especially in the Fed govt and on Wall Street. Thank the Federal Reserve for the current conundrum. On that note, buy physical gold to preserve your future. There's a reason why the world has used it as a currency since the dawn of time...
what about gold etf GLD instead of buying physical gold?
Please don’t act on random investment advice from Blind. There is a reason Gold is no longer used to track the currency.
Wealth has skyrocketed if you were invested. It's never been easier to make tons of money. Just make sure you start a business, arbitrage online, own assets like real estate and stocks, and then make sure you give a ton to charity because a ton of people are being left behind.
It's super easy if you are wealthy! Being charitable as you are is all well and good. I appreciate your way of thinking and I intend to do the same. But really we need to fix out government so it benefits the people, not just the wealthy. We have been brainwashed to think we have to protect the billionaires, just in case we might make it big one day... of course this cant be true for most people. We need to look out for the working class
Correct, Americans believe they are just one lotto ticket away from being rich so they vote against their own self interests. I do not believe I am capable of changing the rules of the game myself though so I just play it and benefit from the system they built
My salary doubled though.
Here’s my observation 2017 Gallon of milk 3usd Mortgage at 4% installment 3200 Tc: 250k 2020 gallon of milk 3.5usd Mortgage at 2.75% installement 2400 Tc: 650k So I dont know what the fuck are you talking about, may be switch jobs or location?
Bc a 250k - 650k TC is normal American
Happened to most people on blind. Look at the damn stocks of tech companies in this period. That is why I suggested OP to change companies.
I dont have the stats in front of me, but I dont think that's right. Salaries *adjusted to inflation* are what stagnated. Wages went up a lot, nominally, it just doesnt mean much because of inflation.
Salaries sure didn't keep up with inflation in tuition, or housing in many areas
> I am in mid thirties... At first I was like, damn that’s old. And then I’m like, wait, I’m in the mid thirties . 😂😱😩
Felt that
On top of rising costs, our tax will get higher. It’s a vicious circle to make the billionaires richer. The only way out is to ride the stock market. Also if you work in the tech, at least understand that it’s a bubble we live in and don’t dismiss others’ struggles.
