I recently finished my onsite interview at Microsoft and overall I felt very confident that I did quite well. Anyhow the recruiter messaged today and said she wanted to talk and asked for what day works best. I messaged back with a day and time, I also asked if the team had made a decision and is it to move forward , she replied back with a "Yes" and a smiley face. So given all that, I am trying to figure out my numbers for the time being , what would be my min - avg - max compensation. Location: Redmond, WA Years of Experience: 18 years Experience: Mostly smaller tech companies and having two startups of my own. Current Title: VP of Engineering at a smaller tech company Title at Microsoft: Principal Program Manager I do have an onsite scheduled with Amazon but if the offer from Microsoft is good, I probably wont proceed.
You should interview at Amazon and use the multiple offers as leverage to negotiate. Principal PM at Microsoft has a wide range - internal levels 65-67 with TC ranging from $300k-$600k. Having a counter offer from Amazon gets you on the high side.
Did you get the offer?
I would do the Amazon interview to make sure you have something in hand to leverage if MS try's to lowball.
