“Oh no ! Nobody gives two hoots about my bachelors in liberal arts with a focus on gender transition, and want actual technical skills”
Fred Hutch, there are plenty of US citizens with engineering degrees, including my spouse and daughter.

Fake post 🚨 OP share link otherwise it’s fake.
Chill. The HR must be lazy and copy pasted the same job description for all locations
OP: Nobody owes “Americans” anything. You didn’t do jack to enable immigrants to come in. If anything, folks like you probably tried to hinder the opportunity. Immigrants owe a lot to America, and they do justice to that via paying more taxes than you. So STFU and sit down.
Immigrants don't pay more taxes than anyone else.
Yes they do. The tax rate for H1Bs is higher. Also, out of state tuition is always higher than in state. International students, by default, are considered out of state.
I think you guys are being unreasonably harsh. This is pretty common behavior even among startups in India. I vaguely remember in 2011 when Deepinder Goyal was setting up Zomato, he posted something similar on Linkedin where he said that he was hiring only iitians and not to bother applying if you are not one. Exclusive club identity is commonplace in India. This is not about local or nonlocal jobs.
This job isn't in India. Also, the IiTs rank much lower than hundreds of US, European and Chinese universities.
^ i agree with you, i am not supporting the behavior. I am merely pointing out that this is not racism or nationalistic behavior but merely some weird superiority complex where these folks believe in tribal iit pride.
Land of the free unless you disagree? For the record I'm American and don't see anything wrong with this. Every big American company outsources jobs, so your problem is that it's owned by someone who is Indian?
Indian American*
If the job is outsourced to India then the pisting is fine. It appears, however, to be a US-based job.
Which visa?
If true, this is stupid. I'm not a lawyer but because by proxy this turns into discrimination based on national origin, I think they could get into trouble for that.
Outsourcing American jobs has been going on for decades now. Nothing new.
US based job, not in India. Yet care about indian degree.
