Product Management

Do you need a computer science/technical degree to be considered? I don’t and haven’t coded in ages but am curious if companies will even consider my resume for a product manager role. I work with engineers all the time though and am very easy with technology so I can get the job done. Thoughts?

Of course not.

May need to learn a few buzzkills either office suite, or tableau or powerbi, and a bunch of Atlassian tools. Generally BAs come from 2 categories: 1. CS background, people who were not good at coding or did not like coding or wanted a relatively comfortable life. Or CS with MBA background, people that did MBA to move into finance, strategy and entrepreneurship but the boat was full. 2. Client support and humanities background or other non CS background. These people are hustlers (not in a bad sense) or street smart. They start out supporting and understanding the system and talking to businesses. Eventually they understand enough to become PM. PMs may be more focused on the client/ business OR on the product/ technology itself. Depends on the product and organization.

Largely depends on the position you are applying to. Working with technology and engineers is good but you will need to show basic engineering knowledge based on role. Like System Design, Effect of AI. - again based on roles.

Sounds like you're not a PM right now and think you'll be fine at the job. Having some sort of related skills is important since otherwise you have no idea what you're actually doing.
