I'm a Product Manager and just got approached by Salesforce recruiter for a "Sr Product Analyst" role. She said "Product Manager" title is reserved for Manager level (usually 8+ YoE). I was surprised because in my understanding, PM is just a title and does not necessarily imply you are at manager level. The reason why title matters is because Analyst pay is very different from PM pay. But it seems like Salesforce treats them to be the same. Can anybody confirm?
Op, what’s your experience and is the job in the bay area or outside of India? I’ve heard from my friends at Salesforce that there is a pay disparity between SPA and PM, but you can take the SPA role and within 12-15 months move to PM Salesforce is good and can be a good stepping stone for FAANG
OP, any updates?
Depends on the group. Some groups believe that managers are truly management while others think the way you do. Given how popular Salesforce is, many people will take a lower title (and potentially lower pay) to weather the storm and then get a much better job down the road.
