How is the PM job market esp. for 10 yoe+ exp? I don’t see many roles.
Took 3 months for me after layoff and joined meta and doubled tc
How much PM experience do you have?
How much?
I’m passively looking and (stating the obvious) it’s a dramatically different market than it was a couple of years ago. Recruiter inbound is a trickle and from what I can tell employers/HMs are looking for someone who has done the exact job that they’re hiring for. They’re way more picky because they can be
I m l7 looking for director roles, dont see anything exciting
There are like 3 roles I am actually interested in and one disappeared 3 days after it was posted. It's bad. I wasn't looking in 2021 but I look back at the posts then and it's wild to fathom how many jobs there were then
The pandemic has normalized 100% remote jobs and they all follow a lower 'national' scale. So people like me that live in a high cost-of-living region have to reject so many.
This is the way it should be. No reason for a company to subsidize Bay Area living
Agreed. We’ve gotta finally kill the SF hegemony. And I say that as someone who lived and worked there
I’ve got 4 YOE as Program manager and 1 YOE Product Manager and looking for a remote role. I’m sure my outlook is about the same or worse! Lol
The market is horrendous. I've been out of work since mid-September with 11 yoe.
What’s your profile?
Background in Logistics, Retail, and IT. Been a PjM, TPjM, TPM, etc. Prefer TPj/PjM work, but at this point I'm willing to look at anything. Not a coder, but I have an understanding of what all goes into those efforts.
June 2022 Reorg and department layoff the same month, the senior leader retained me and assigned me a new department. Nov 2022, I left my job since they needed me to relocate full-time to Texas. Considering my family was in Seattle, I made a tough decision. Sept 2022 Found contract job Nov 2023, I was over-excited and worked, which made my manager think I was overstepping on his things, and due to political reasons, he ended my contract. Nov2023 - Dec2023 took a break Jan 2024: Trying again...
Been out of work since July layoff and no offers, only about 10 interviews. Most roles that I get interviews for have been canceled or the comp was just laughable. Even contract roles asking for 10 YOE are paying $60-75/hr in the Bay Area. Wild times. 13 YOE Previous TC: $280k

Question about women in their 30’s?
I was literally looking for a job for a year and just got my first offer last week. 9 yoe and swe background, the market sucks
How is the offer? Is it lower than your previous one
About 15 k lower but still 150+
