Today the CEO announced in an internal email that they were laying off 280 of its people, likely all from the United States. CEO Sumit Dhawan said in an email that these people were being let go to "align with the company growth goals" and all positions were expected to be rehired in Ireland and Argentina. W.T.F. #tech #layoffs #outsourcing #proofpoint
Remember when time comes how US jobs were moved to cheaper regions in an attempt to reduce inflation, without government laying off itself first.
Indian engineers more expensive than Argentinian ones now? With their inflation that might even be true 🤡
These Thoma Bravo fools have no fucking clue. They just look at salaries and yell CUT!! The overlords are disappointed they haven't been able to IPO fast enough so they brought in this fool Sumit who would respnd to yanking the leash. They have no clue how Gary Steele built the culture that made the company and kept revenue growing.
Wait til Thursday!!
Wait till AI replaces the CEOs
None of AI models are being trained as CEO, but they are being trained as developers, qa, writers, lower management.
AI has already surpassed the qualifications of a CEO. The only thing they haven't figured out is the old boy network.
And the email said, do not forward. Haha
Screw what the email said
Just wait till the fucking ceo introduces new chief people officer during Eko. Another lunatic.
low class move… company is doing good so far..why they need to layoff… grow slow, but dont shrink
TB wants to collect asap
This blows. (>.<) Company has great revenues, so many quarters in the row and now this? I don't understand
Screwing the workers over without a second of thought is how Sumit works. The VMware acquisition had a bunch of layoffs in it too, but how they handled that one is they just never extended a Broadcom offer to people, so when the deal closed, they were just all of a sudden out of a job. No severance or official layoff. Fun right?
Easy to tell the kind of person Sumit is. Spineless, weak fool who only cares about taking credit not his and bumping his margins. He already had attitude when more senior folk were asking about former VMWare coming into PFPT. Don't get comfortable.
The layoff has commenced
Nothing good was going to happen at Proofpoint. That was clear the day Eric left. Gary showed he was just in it for the money with the TB deal.
No more India ?
A lot of Indians in and around Dublin tho.
Probably desis will backfill roles in Ireland from US lol 😂
