Folks who have moved from the US to Canada, mind sharing what the pros and cons are. How do the pay and savings compare?
pros: you don’t get trumpted. cons: it is cold.
Pros: good and cheap Chinese food Cons: you are gonna be poor
Why poor?
Salary is much more lower than US in my understanding. Plus Canada gov takes lots of tax, and stuffs in there are more expensive Of course, you will have very good social benefits because they charge lots of tax
Stayed in PEI for a bit. Winters are brutal and the snow stays around for half the year. Pay is much less. And the internet speed was shit
Lobster too. :)
What’s pei
hmm I heard that the healthcare is actually not so good since they make you wait forever to see someone and some Canadians with money actually come to the US to get faster and better medical service. Also is there any specific data to support that the public schools are better? Do they offer programs or curriculum that we don't have in the States? Here in the US I think quality of public school varies a lot depending on the neighborhood so wouldn't that also be the case in Canada as well?
You live in Canada? How is the TC like?
Why is TC so low in Canada? Vancouver is more expensive than Seatle. Similar weather so attracting talent should be similar to Seattle area. Just don't get how Canada fucked up their tech industry so much.
Is the relative delta in tech TC on Canada vs. USA also prevalent in other industries e.g Banking? Management consulting? My impression is that it's more extreme in tech which to me points to a demand supply mismatch. Canada simply does not have enough tech jobs and local supply is comparatively plentiful so that depresses wages..
I don't think it's immigration that's the problem. It's a demand side issue. Very few engineers go to Canada because there just aren't enough tech jobs
I moved from Canada to California solely for the sunshine. Everything is better in Canada except for the weather and pay.
Pros: smart healthcare, more polite people, immigrant friendly, gun control, cleaner environment, will probably do well in the nuclear holocaust or when climate change really kicks up, no MAGA or Trump, better-respected internationally as a Canadian traveler than an American one, lower cost of living Cons: generally cooler weather, less metropolitan living, lower wages
Pros: No Trump. No Trumptards, no gun violence, No GOP, Sensible people who always do the right thing. Cons: less money
Have you moved your self? How do the pay and savings compare?
Have you noticed that less money and more libtards are correlated?
