Quitting VMware to go out to a direct competitor of the product I manage. I feel bad for doing this, but there are several reasons, mainly the TC jump is substantial and better GTM strategy for product I will manage. If I am vesting some stocks in first week of June and I decide to put down my papers a week before the vesting. Is there a risk of getting let go, and losing all my stocks. Current TC: 250k New TC : 470k
Why didn’t you just wait a week 😂
I wouldn’t. Once you resign they could decide they don’t want your notice period and make it effective immediately or ahead of your vest date. They probably won’t, but they could. I personally would not only wait for vest date but the extra couple days to see it drop at my brokerage to be safe.
This 👆🏻is the way
If you even hint you're going to a competitor, they can walk you out at that point and you're done. If they do, you're no longer an employee and the unvested disappear. You will get your 2 weeks pay (based on notice) but not the rsu if you are not an employee.
Don’t tell them where you are going

PM is irrelevant role and will die in next 2-3 years.
Yes, if you don’t work there, you won’t get your stock. Delay quitting for a week if you want the vest. If you mean putting in your two weeks, I don’t think they’d do that.
Putting down my papers a week before. So the actual last date is a few days after my vesting.
Then you should be fine
