How did PwC & EY consulting fare in this pandemic ? Were there many layoffs

EY EaIY35 Oct 30, 2020

Nothing other than “performance based separations” at EY to my knowledge

Ey sucks

No layoffs at pwc yet except performance based. firm message is layoffs are absolute last resort — this comes at the cost of cutting bonuses dramatically of course

Agreed, which on the one hand, very humane... However on the other hand, they're stiffing their highest tier/performers most rather than trimming some fat (not the best long-term move imo) consultants with highly in demand skills are definitely jumping ship at a much higher rate than normal. (Easy to see when you look at ~30% of top digital lab contributors are already gone, granted digital lab is dogsh*t but atleast these are people that have skills the firm is targeting) it'll be interesting to see what happens long term for PWC because of this incredibly humane move. I mean I won't see it, in final talks with a few sweet exits but I'll stay tuned to see lol

No layoffs at EY. No hikes/bonus either.

PwC handled pandemic really well with absolutely no layoffs (due to covid). Additionally, in order to save existing employees they put the hiring process on hold for a couple of months. However, at present all the hiring processes for PwC resumed in full swing.
