Why is Qualcomm, AMD, Broadcom, Nvidia etc still on a hiring spree when other FAANG companies have slowed it down? Isn’t their business getting affected due to FAANG companies? #hardware #interview #semiconductor #interview

Yes , finally it was a virus that gave us a huge hike in salary

Nvidia literally has a hiring freeze
Throughout the organization or just particular sectors?
Not 100% …. A person whom I referred for a HW role is undergoing the interview process …. Also check jobs posted on LinkedIn ….
nvidia is literally slowing down on hiring, not sure about amd. qcom is on a hiring spree because they are literally getting poached left and right and have huge troubles retaining talent
No slowing at AMD
Exactly the question: why not slowing growth at AMD?
Maybe it is just different timescales / planning horizons? Hardware people / corps know that they need to hire now to have good products in 3 - 5 years. The hope is that demand is up again then.
Qualcomm has a soft freeze as well.. no new reqs just fill existing ones.
I received a verbal offer for an internship at Q (in Europe), but I have not received the formal contract yet. Should I be worried?
NVIDIA is in a hiring freeze but is hiring for roles that need backfill.
No new reqs at Qc anymore
QC teams were having a lot of problems in attracting half decent folks (due to the peanuts they pay as compared to other companies). This is the golden opportunity to hire good folks. So hiring spree in a lot of teams before the incoming freeze
It’s bcoz faang entered hw in race for higher market cap and also bcoz every Tom dick harry chooses to do comp sci and other engg fields have the supply vs demand issue and 5 years from now hw engg will get paid even more and every avg joe in hw will get into top hw companies bcoz literally very few ppl coming from india are doing electrical engg. All top ece students are picking comp sci in masters and Every bro/sis is told to pick comp sci for having good salary and great wlb
It’s called demand of labor actually !!
I get that. But I can’t wrap my head around as to why their hiring isn’t being slowed down. Even Apple & Google are taking a conservative approach, but why not these companies?
They have a lot of products lined up and also in planning stage
