As part of the cost reduction plan announced in January, Qualcomm is conducting a reduction of our full-time and temporary workforce. What department are affected mostly?
It’s possible. Semiconductor market is cooling down and nobody wants to spend money on asset now. Unfortunately, if they loose the momentum, it will takes years to recover. Not like software.
Must be fake news. No major American outlets reported this.
D-Wave did you even read the articles you pasted? They says they going to announce in upcoming earnings call, which already happened and no announcement of that sort it made. Some idiot in one of the Indian news agency wrote article with some link to NXP acquisition, which is thing of past for several years now, other copy pasted that. Qualcomm did small portion of layoffs around Feb, and may do again in future but this 2200 or 5% Is rumours.
They are expecting an impending revenue hit and laying off accordingly…
Let’s see. It’s a huge learning opportunity.
Is Qcom going to announce bankruptcy?
That escalated quickly :)
QC addresses strong market segments that makes a good profit. No bankruptcy at all. Consumer mobile market is declining. However, edge computing is still a growing market. Possibly it’s a time that Apple can take over the modem market from QC. Such an amazing company Apple. Smart Management.
What about Nuvia-Qualcomm?? Are they also laying off?
I’m not sure about that.
When are the layoffs? Did they happen already?
It’s gradually happening. They failed to acquire NXP and looks like other markets are not promoting for them. People from inside know more!
I don’t think it is due to NXP. They were doing quite well few months ago. So, I guess it is due to market downturn
