I hate my f***** life
A friend got offer from both companies. They obviously compete with each other. The pay packages are comparable (I don't know the exact numbers -- I'm going by what he told me), and both companies have similar culture for engineering. He would be joining the team as a Senior Engineer. Which of these companies do you think have better prospect of succeeding in the long run? Both are fairly well funded & rapidly growing in headcount. Medallia is in Series D, while Qualtrics is in Series B (both backed by tier 1 venture firms).
Utah companies will always have a good old boys Mormon network that will be annoying unless you're Mormon. It took Adobe 3-4 years to finally crush the Omniture vibe after acquiring them.
Your comment comes across as single minded and uninformed. Qualtrics is a global company, has zero to do with what or any denomination... the company values say it all: transparency, customer obsession, OneTeam, scrappiness
Yes, Qualtrics offer is in Seattle, and Medallia offer is in Palo Alto. My friend does not have preference for location.
I have an offer from Qualtrics as well. Unfortunately there is not enough data points to say whether given offer is good or not, especially RSUs
What is/was the offer? I'm interested too.
Medallia is a sinking ship, their product is very unstable and outdated. If that excites you (solving big problems) then go there. Qualtrics is much more nimble and their product is fantastic and easy to use. They just launched new product lines l, which will be fun to help create and shape the future for the company.
You'll regret going to Medallia https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-Medallia-RVW14323657.htm "If I could take back my 2 years, I would."
These two comments are truly laughable. We’ll keep winning, Q will keep talking.
According to the latest Forrester report (look up what that is), Medallia outscored Qualtrics in nearly every category. Might want to dig into Qualtrics sales numbers as well, word is they weren't good which is why that had to take another round of funding. Not saying that Qualtrics is bad, but do you want to join a company where the employees use hyperbole to insult the competition and refer to their own product in the third person?
*grabs popcorn*
Pass the popcorn. Qualtrics is an absolute non-factor in enterprise. Their sustained failure to win true enterprise deals is remarkable. The Medallia solution, simply put, works very well for experience leading, large and complex enterprises. The impact is felt by customers, associates at all levels and tangibly evident in business impact. Qualtrics has Medallia beat in one area - Marketing. That’s it.
Let’s be crystal clear here: A savvy CX prospect won’t have Qualtrics and Medallia in the same competitive bid. Two different solutions. Q sells the best-in-class, self-serve point solution for largely research and polling purposes. We sell the best-in-class, full-serve enterprise solution for taking CX from CEO hot air to a concept to an initiative to a culture. The only reason Q is in “enterprise” is because their world-class marketing says they are in enterprise. The enterprise CX addressable market - clients and prospects, meanwhile, invalidates that claim every damn day.
I declined offer from Qualtrics before because I had much better offer but liked the people over there. Also, I have seen companies using Qualtrics for survey at some large companies like Microsoft and Facebook but have never heard Medallia. Perhaps, they compete in different domain?
Location is also a factor. I think Qualtrics engineering might be in Seattle whereas Medallia is in Palo Alto. Seems like Medallia pays better looking at Glassdoor, so even for future salary growth it might be better. Overall I think they both are not super competitive in terms of compensation and he should look at getting other offers from the big names to negotiate.
