GoPuff offer: 180k base, 400k stock / 4 years, and 10% target bonus. TC: 300k Qualtrics offer: 140k base and 288 stock / 4 years, 10k signon, 10%~ bonus. TC: 226K. I want to say GoPuff because even if their ipo drops 50% - 66% the offers will still be the same. But there is potential for a good ipo, so my projected comp could be even higher. The numbers for Qualtrics are an estimate, still waiting to hear back from the comp team about numbers. I also have a Microsoft offer as well, so using that for negotiation. The pro for Qualtrics is that they have a guaranteed WLB, whereas GoPuff may be a bit iffy. Edit: TC: 160k YOE: 2.5~ #gopuff #qualtrics
Congrats. Take gopuff. How hard were interviews at both places?
Not too bad imo. Qualtrics was a bit more stereotypical LC + sys design + behavioral, whereas GoPuff was more similar to startup interviews I've done where it was a more focus on OOP design + sys design + behavioral, and not much LC. I generally prefer startup interviews, because its more on the job stuff and less "reverse this linked list"
Ok.. gopuff uses hackerrank for coding questions?
What roles are these offers for? SWE?
SDE-2 for both (and for microsoft, recruiter wouldn't tell me the exact level for some reason though)
Also Gopuff is pre-ipo so total dollar amount is kinda less relevant and what valuation are you getting each rsu/option is more crucial. Is Gopuff using their last valuation for every unit? Is it some other number? For pre ipo companies you should not evaluate the offers like a public company since value to stock is usually a range between official valuation vs current perceived market value.
So yea GoPuff got their 15B evaluation in July, so that should be what they're using for the stock price. My shares are being valued at $388 per share. And yea thats true, so I wasn't expecting to have an equal matching of public company to ipo. But I do think GoPuff can grow a lot since they're still pretty early stage, and are only now expanding to EU and other parts of the US.
What did you decide
Haven't decided yet, scheduling calls with the engineers, but right now I'm leaning Qualtrics. After 2 years at Amazon, I kinda want to step back and optimize on a company that cares about its employees. With extra free time I can spend more time hanging out with friends, rock climbing, finally get a dog, etc. Also, the way I see it, if GoPuff 2x~ then my TC goes from 300k to 400k, which isnt that big a QOL difference to be honest. Plus, I'd have to stay all 4 years to get all the stocks. But here I am leaving amazon after 2 years, so if I hate my job or have bad wlb, then I'd probably leave there after 2 years as well. Thats just my thought process right now.
Makes sense, Qualtrics sounds like a better option for what you are looking for. Good luck!
OP, these gopuff numbers are after negotiations or is this from the initial offer?
After negotiation, had MSFT
Op got a similar gopuff offer what was your final decision? This can really help me appreciate it!
Hey, my opinion might not apply to you but I chose Qualtrics. After negotiation my comp was 280, so not too big a difference. Basically after 2 years at Amazon, I'm kinda tired and wanna optimize on wlb and hobbies for a bit before jumping back into something fast paced. I added more context in a comment above.
GoPuff was very compelling tho, chance for big influence and growth. I also enjoyed talking to the manager and engineers, they seemed very passionate and like good people to work with
Hi Op - does GoPuff have stock refreshers?
No
Hi fellow MSFTie. Did you get an offer? If so, mind sharing comp details? I am in the interview process with them myself and there are very few data pts around.
Can I dm you op?
