Question about Amazon referral and interview process

My ex-coworker just referred me for a position in Amazon. In the email confirmation of this, it says I will be considered for the position but to also be looking at other roles in Amazon as I see fit and have my friend refer me for them. I really need to keep pestering my friend until a hiring manager likes my resume? Seems like other FAANG do things the opposite, push through tech interviews then do team match if you pass.
