Question to recruiters: do you get incentives or rewarded for signing a candidate to a lower salary?

Like the title says, do recruiters have any say in candidate salaries and do you get rewarded if you can convince a candidate to sign for less $$? Example: If a SWE salary band is $200K - $250K, is there any pressure or incentive for you to get the candidate to sign for $200K instead of $250K? TC: $210K

Do you have any incentive to make me click more ads and spam emails.

I mean if its a company/department goal you could say if you looked at it as a whole there is an indirect incentive assuming the goal is tied to bonuses etc

Usually the higher manager has a number in mind, recruiter probably is just a mediator and also provide market research data to the hiring manager if required

As a recruiter, I have a small amount of flexibility, but not much - the position pay is fairly set. I just have leeway for hiring people with experience. No bonus for signing people at a lower salary, we aren’t trying to pay bottom dollar. We want good people.

Thanks for your perspective

They have a budget to hire X ppl for Y$. So the reason you’re being low balled is purely because they want to give a better chunk for some top cream talent. End of the day they don’t get evaluated on the offer numbers they rolled out but on the number of really smart ppl they bring in.

So then why is your value directly proportional to the TC in the competing offers. There must be incentive. Otherwise why would salary bands which you can "break" if you have other offers.

Once again I repeat, recruiters don’t get incentives for throwing low ball offers. They r after talent. Having a portfolio of one great hire looks great than 4 lousy ones.
