My husband just landed his first tech role (Woohoo!) With an 18 month contract at Uber. There's a few questions that I have that he didn't ask and I'm hoping the Blind community can help, as always. When you're a co tracked employee at Uber, do you get Health Benefits? They said he will be interviewing for a fte role at the end of the contract, but in the mean time for the 18 months he's on the contract, is there a potential for raises or promotion? I have never been a contracted employee and idk how it works, obviously. Thanks! TC 170k #Uber #contractor #benefits
Yes technically he’s not employed with Uber but the contracting firm. He might want to interview for fte whenever he can instead of only after 18 months. The interview will be the same as an external hire with not much advantage. Might as well interview for few more times.
Is he contracting through a company or directly with uber?
It's a third party making the contract.
He should get health benefits through them then. Everything is driven through that contracting, they are the ones employing him and not uber, you would need to ask then about potential raises as well.
