Ways to reduce stress immediately
I'm 100% self-made in India. š„ by Blind standards but still significant for someone from a middle class family, now I can just afford a 2BHK in a low end tier-1 city. I worked remote contract roles at no name startups, I'm from a tier-3 college and had to sacrifice social life and grades. But at the time, it felt worth it. However, I'm currently burnt out and depressed. The future feels uncertain, and I'm not sure what to do next. I've seen many people pursue an MS after two years of working experience, then go on to work in the US and build a net worth of over $1 million within a few years. However, due to the increasing difficulty of obtaining H1B visas and green cards, coupled with the rise of artificial intelligence and potential layoffs, this option seems less attractive. I'd like to pursue a PhD in AI topics, but I'm hesitant to commit to a five-year program due to the rapid pace of the field. I'm concerned that my research topic might not be as relevant by 2030. One other option I've also thought about is to get a high paying ML job abroad and then start a startup. What would you do in my situation ? please comment if you have any any advice for me. #ama #Ask Me Anything
OP, life and career is way way longer than 3 to 5 years. As technology taking turn specialist will be in demand - go for PhD, thank me later. This is coming from someone who has spent 20+ years with FAANG.
thanks for the advice, Doing an MS doesn't necessarily set you apart from the crowd. I will try to get some papers published and start applying ASAP.
Have you done a phd? I know PhDs from Stanford regret spending their life on it.
Some of my friends didn't get H1B after 3 attempts and have moved to Canada or are doing their second masters.
Still that worth, considering chasing $s.
You are asking us a question in your AMA?
Yes, I don't think that my experience will useful to anybody on blind.
