I am a PhD 10 years out of tier 1 school. Applied to apple for a RF/Optics specialty. Got a very fast reply back but from a HR guy (different specialty, no overlap in my opinion) and they want to see me ASAP onsite but only with Eng Manager, I only spoke to HR guy. I interviewed with Apple before, and it was traditional. Took a while, phonecall with engineering Manager than onsite with the team. They wouldn't say much, the usual. This seems much stranger. Do they ever pretend like it's a completely diff group alltogether for secrecy? Currently in the Bay Area working in a niche HW startup.
AZ or UofR? :)
Or UCF? :)
Haha, actually one of those 3, nicely done
Nice! If you have questions on camera as a group you can feel free to PM me
UofR, UCF are tier 1 schools?
Go on the interview and see what’s up. Yes, it is completely possible someone said, “great person, I don’t have a req but my friend over there does and it could be a fit.”
That’s how I got my job
Yeah, fingers crossed. I am excited about it.

I like that you add “niche” everywhere. :)
