Does ROKU still have an upside ?
Watch out for the earnings this week if you’re in it or thinking to get some.
Personally I don’t care about any stories. I just go where there’s money to be made with technicals.
That's my thinking too. Technicals don't add up in Roku's case. I was investor in Roku some time ago but decided to bail out and invested in Amazon stock with that money. Returns are far better with Amazon. Roku has good revenue but EPS, P/E doesn't make sense to me.Also, this company is operating on extremely thin margin. One change in direction will take Roku's stock in drain. Try Twilio stock. They are quite good lately.
I think it will grow but there are too many players in the streaming market. Apple and Amazon already there and Google making significant investment in Android TV. I think Roku will somehow survive in the short term but long term prospects are hard to say. Also, overall Blind reviews on working environment at Roku seems quite bad. I have rarely seen employees being so negative about the company culture. When employees themselves are not happy, companies fail to innovative. Take recent failure and massive firing at Cisco as an example. I would personally stay away from Roku stock. Just put your money in Shopify, Twilio, Apple, Amazon. You will get guaranteed returns.
The answer is almost always yes in the world of tech stonks

May be. It's hard to say as the company is highly betting on the TV ads dollars. Last quarter has been very difficult for Ads market to keep things afloat. I don't think Roku makes money from streaming sticks due to high competition from Amazon and other players. If they can prove that ads are back then may be another 5-10% growth. I personally don't believe in Roku stock or growth story. I think they have a good business model but big guys like Netflix, Prime, YouTube, Disney+ are simply living on Roku for free without paying rent. My guess is streaming hrs will be very high but ads Dollar will never follow.
All the streaming services pay “rent” to Roku. Try to google why HBO Max is not available on Roku
Based on news I am seeing Roku is now asking for a cut for every HBO max sign up. I don't think they make money from Amazon, Netflix, Disney+ services. If one of the big services is taken away from Roku then Roku is done. People will dump Roku and move to the next streaming device. HBO Max probably want to the same treatment as Netflix. My hypothesis is that Roku will expand but will fail to make money due to no revenue from top streaming apps.
