How is RTO at vmware after Broadcom acquisition. Heard VCF team like kubernetes with vsphere are coming 1 day/week RTO. Thinking of interviewing with vsphere team after hearing about their massive offer to vmware employees TC: 300k #vmware #broadcom
RTO for all teams is 5 days/week. vSphere team doesn’t have any exception.
RTO only 5 days /week.
It’s good that you can WFH on weekends at least.
It was even clarified to me that if you badge-in on weekend to work, it doesn't "replace" a weekday badge-in.
If wfh is ur criteria run
RTO 5 days/week
yeah I am interested to see what happens to esxi kernel team now, if these core maintainers leave esxi dies.
Broadcom does not want us to innovate. This was literally mentioned in town hall. They just want to keep doing support for existing code. So esxi won’t die but gets stagnated in maintenance mode until they milk us for few years.
This is not true at all. Innovation is expected on the existing product lines to maintain their market position.
1 day / week 🤣
How do these guys retain any talent with 5 day RTO req?
Usual story of retention bonus and inertia to get another job. Broadcom will lay off 50% of VMW over the coming year. Im also hearing remote jobs are hard to come by. I've never understood that myself. If a job can be done remote, move the job to Canada or europe and hire 2 or 3 people. When they forced employees back into the office during covid people were livid, but few left because of TC and most like the work and people.
I guess AVGO sticker is also the another reason. See overall graph
There’s nothing like kernel team getting boatloads of RSUs. Basically everyone in US at each grade level got same RSUs. House in Palo Alto? That’s ridiculous. Those living in other states like Georgia/Texas who got same RSUs as their Bay Area counterparts and don’t have to RTO and can be remote hit the jackpot.
You are not wrong about this. It's not fair and I don't understand why they do this. But it's not in my control so I don't worry about it. I feel fortunate for what I do have.
Those employees make a lot less in base pay, so it’s not the windfall you think it is in terms of fairness.
I am from vsphere team.. 5 days rto.. I dont find any valid reasons to leave apple for vmw. I am smts and pay is on the lower end of google L5. Google and apple still pays much higher than vmw-broadcom
For staff, brcm gave huge Rsu and tc is is 600+ right?
Yes... people at staff level got more rsu and few have got reduced base. But there is no job security... They will do 2nd 3rd and 4th round of layoffs

Broadcom needs you to be in office 5 days a week
