Rakuten ready
How is it to work for Rakuten Ready in San Mateo? How is the compensation like and what stock options do they offer?
I work there. Its a small engineering org, but is probably growing the fastest out of the business units in San Mateo. Half of the engineering team is in Quebec City. I am not a team lead. My comp is ~ 165k base, target 15% bonus, my last refresher grant was ~40k when issued. However last year Rakuten Ready didn't meet it's business goals so everyone's bonus was cut by 15 percent. Due to covid business goals don't count this year. The RSUs are in Yen which is weird. Vesting schedule at Rakuten is 15, 20, 30, 35 I believe.
You have a _really_ nice deal compared to us at the Tokyo HQ! Your base is four times what mine is (4.6M yen) and your stock vests much earlier than ours (4 years to vest here). Are you a software engineer? We office workers don't get paid so well.
No idea about San Mateo but I work for the mothership in Tokyo. Salaries are "meh" but it's a way to get an overseas job if you're looking to do that.
