Let’s compile a list of companies still follow this approach generally. Firing quota, URA, Stank Rank. As for Microsoft we still have a modified version of stack rank but there isn’t firing quota. #tech #layoff #URA #pip Rank & Yank Companies ——————————————— 1. Amazon 2. Oracle 3. Meta 4. Netflix 5. Etsy 6. Stripe …
I guess now Meta is doing this as well?
Stripe.
How come Microsoft does stack rank if they don't have firing quota? I thought the two things were intertwined
No. Companies do some sort of stack rank when it comes to raises and bonuses. It does not mean someone at bottom will be fired. You can cut the pie in equal pieces if you want unless you really want the one dude at bottom to get no pie
btw, any company that has ratings will do that.
More interested in companies taking it to extreme jack welch approach and firing the bottom x%. That’s why I didn’t include Microsoft the list.
Microsoft still stack ranks but no longer pulls a Neutron Jack walking out the bottom 5%.
Wasn’t Snapchat pipping hard also?
Apple doesn’t have a PIP quota culture but we stack rank for refreshers and bonus. Does that count?
Nope
Dumb list, meta doesn't have a set mandatory URA or PIP target
