Tier 1 (Amazing): Google, Citadel, Meta, Netflix, Qualtrics, Bloomberg, Affirm Tier 2 (Pretty good): Amazon, Uber, Coinbase, TikTok, Square, Twitter, Brex, MongoDB, Roblox Tier 3 (Meh): Stripe, Instacart, Airbnb, Salesforce, LinkedIn Tier 4 (Absolute Shit): Pinterest, Doordash, Apple, Lyft, Chewy, Microsoft Apple absolutely the worst. Never had a good experience with them Lyft and Doordash competing hard for the second worst Just for fun TC: 420k yoe: 6 #tech #recruiters #worst #software #engineer
How many of those interviews did you pass/fail?
Passed onsite or also phone screen? Onsite+Phone screen like 15/16 in total
+1 to apple recruiters being the shittiest
You got a lot of things right in your post. Not everything.
Add Optiver to Tier 4. My partner and I both got green lights to proceed in our respective interviews with two different recruiters nearly a half year apart. Both of us got ghosted. Sample n=2, but what are the odds.
I had an absolutely horrible time with Amazon and a less than ideal time with Microsoft. Uber and Google were great for me. Since I joined I’ve heard some horror stories about Uber recruiting since they were all laid off in 2020 and is almost exclusive new faces today.
I can see Amazon being hit or miss. Msft most definitely sucks. Recruiter actually had to reschedule my call 3 times until I cancelled it. Actually I am moving them to tier 4
Amazon is actually cold, but very professional and efficient
+1 for Apple 🍏
Bloomberg is great, can confirm
Not at all. They scheduled two interviews and ghosted both of them saying that they had call conflicts!
+1 for Microsoft
I would put Coinbase at the bottom too
What makes a recruiter good?
Following back with candidates. Giving them the time to understand the process rather than slamming a tech screen on their calendar and calling it a day. Responding to email in timely manner. Needless to say your company's recruiter does none of these. Im sure working there is awesome though!
Pinterest has awful recruiters. But they saved me so much money so in the end I should be thanking them
