All the tech company tier lists I’ve seen seem kind of shitty, so what do employees think about their current company’s prestige in terms of the brand name looking good on the resume or good reputation for having the best engineering talent? Please rate your company’s prestige from 1 to 4, 1 being most prestigious (Google) and 4 being least but still a household brand name (eg. IBM). 5+ is for any other company that’s not prestigious or too new or too small to be known or possibly not in tech (e.g. Starbucks). I’ll start. I would say OCI is 3 (because pay and “start up culture” within Oracle) and Oracle as a whole is 4.

Don’t you? You clicked, read, and commented.

Why y’all mad? 🤔
Sunday night everyone is mad :)
Top in 2. I always consider Microsoft as goalkeeper of tier 1. If it is better than Microsoft, it is tier 1.
😁⚽🥅 G🔆🔆🔆AL #️⃣☝️
That’s a remarkably good way to look at it. You could also argue the bottom of tier 1.
Why?
Why not?? If I make my own list people are gonna say it’s shit so let them self evaluate?
Tying up your self worth to the company you work for shows a lot of insecurity on your end. When will people like you understand that prestige is a useless concept? Build yourself up, man.
I disagree. It’s about building a brand. You now have way more opportunities coming your way and recruiters beating down your door because you have work experience at Amazon. Same cannot be said about some software engineer at Capitol One for example. Not a useless concept and not about insecurities. All about opening opportunities for your career path.
Thanks for the insult but yeah that’s true and a lot of us here do feel that way
Rakuten is a 4. Well known, particularly in Japan, but an abusive sweatshop where employees are wrung dry before being replaced.
Amazon = 2.
Don’t you have anything better to do in your life?
