If I plan to shift my Team within the company, should I ping the recruiter first or should I be applying directly? And if I apply, wouldn't my manager know about it? Is it possible to interview without my manager knowing about it? I want to avoid any friction within my team in case I didn't get selected for the role later. Does anyone have experience in this? #activision #blizzard #king
Talking to the recruiter first really holds no value. They are there to help the teams find the right people, they're not there to help you land a role (or to escape your current one). Why are you concerned about talking to your lead? What is your relationship like? What are your reviews like?
Maybe future layoffs. Also, does the team not treat you differently if they know that you are looking to leave?
Without knowing your team or your situation it's hard to say much here. In my experience, if you have a good relationship with your lead and trust them then there's no reason to be concerned. But I am also aware that not every lead should be that trusted.
Your manager is immediately pinged when you apply for an internal position. Let them know ahead of time to avoid a weird conversation.
Yeah just trying to find out if anyone spoke/interviewed with the other team lead or anything before applying to avoid that weird convo
