I recently (2 months ago) interviewed for DE Shaw, India (SDE/MTS) and was probably close to making it, but then somehow bad luck struck and couldn’t. So I just wanna know if and when can I re-contact the HR and request to interview me again. Also, tips for preparation would be helpful. I’m a new grad.
Six months is the cooling period , if your interviews went some what well - the HR team might themselves contact you if the relevant opening is present in the company.
What kind of bad luck was this? Care to elaborate?
The interview started off very well, I was able to answer everything in the first half and he was really happy with my answers till like half way of the interview and he praised me as well but then he asked what to do for printing m to n line in say a file with million lines, and optimise it, I wasn’t able to understand what he wanted and I panicked and it took me a lot of time to understand what he wanted. Then he asked me about random number generator with total randomness and very efficient, to come up to the best suited answer according to me, i came up with using fibonacci series. But the interview was timed for an hour and time ran out and hence after half way after feeling very positive the interview just went downhill, I feel. I feel like with better preparation I should be able to crack it.
He didn’t ask me any standard DSA questions or the questions I knew were being asked to my friends to code, hence I termed it as bad luck owing to the unexpected questions.
