We had viewed a house in a Boston suburb during a open house past weekend. Our agent asked the sellers agent when are offers due . He said Tuesday 10 am. So my agent called him this morning and asked if he had any offers he said no. My agent told the seller agent we are interested but just checking on a couple of things . If he gets any offer he can tell us so we can put one too if it needs to be rushed . This convo took place at 11 am. At 10 past noon I notice the house is under contingent so I call and ask my realtor wtf happened ? She called seller who said they got offer over asking so they accepted . My realtor said unfortunately there are people in this businesses who don’t look at the clients best interest. I am so mad because we could have placed an offer but never even got chance to. The sellers agent is a Redfin agent . I feel Redfin agents are sketch . I had asked the seller agent if there is a reason current tenants moving out . He said they are upsizing which turned out to be a lie. When I googled the tenants records on mass land records it turned out he or she loved to a smaller house. I am mad and I don’t know who lied . Idk if my agent has a part in this too. I am fine if place an offer and get rejected but this was so unprofessional. TC: 250k#mortgage #housing

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
It’s Boston FFS. Most dishonest shithole I’ve ever seen. Just assume everyone lies to you from here on out.
LOL
You were penny pinching on commissions by hiring a RedFin agent. And then you also expected top quality work? Cheapskates don’t get quality service.
No my agent isn’t Redfin . The sellers agent is !!
The sellers agent told us he had no offer at 11 and would tell us if he got one so we can put one . At 12 pm house is under contingent
While the seller agent could have respected your agents request as a professional courtesy, they are not bound to. Here is the thing, the market is nervous right now. If a seller gets an above list offer, they want to accept and close and not risk getting a potential higher offer may be. Sometimes, buyer agents also give a higher offer contingent on acceptance. I personally know people who have done so in the past. Then there is no choice but to accept. Think of it both ways. Next time you like a house enough, don’t let others decide the next step. Put in your best offer take control. Don’t let others behavior or luck decide what happens
Would you have wanted to enter a sales contract of many hundreds of thousands (maybe more) with that agent/seller anyway? Dodged a bullet, for sure
Sweet summer child, all realtors are crooks! They are in it for themselves.
Aren't we all? realtors sure, just like everyone else.
I thought thats the key skillset to become a realtor.
😂
What do you see as the lie or sketch here?
OP you probably lucked out if people are still bidding over asking price. Prices will drop as interest rates go up.
Not common, but not surprising for redfin agents since they get the same commission either way. But if you haven't put in an offer then there's no reason to be put out, just move on to the next one and don't hesitate.
No one lied. You felt the sting of a competitive housing market and you didn't pull the trigger.
This isn’t 2021 and why would he not tell us . I am sure the seller would love to know all the options he had .
Gone are the days when there are 200 offers for a house
