Price it lower, eventually someone will take it.

Lol $600 couch will resell for $100 max

Microsoft GottaChill OP Feb 16, 2020

Hmm... I have some friends who manage to get like half price when they sell stuff . It’s never me somehow 😑

Anything fabric-based needs to be marked down extensively. If it was a table / book case or something you could get half price, but no one is gonna want to pay more than 20% of the retail price for someone’s used couch.

For used couches, it is whatever you can get, otherwise you may need to pay a company to remove it like 1-800-junk. In some areas waste companies offer a few pickups a year for bulky items, check on that.

All of those apps and marketplaces introduced vast new liquidity into the used furniture market. You’ve discovered by now that everyone wants to get rid of their old stuff especially IKEA since it’s common. This translates to a vast supply but not an increased demand, which in turn means a classic race to the bottom. Economics 101. Prices drop when supply exceeds demand. You certainly won’t get half what you paid. Maybe $40. You should set it on the curb with a FREE sign and hope it goes away. Then you aren’t hiring a junk company to come get it.

Just 40 ?? 😟that’s too less ! I am trying to buy a new 1000$ couch ... and was hoping to get some money from my existing one .. to put into the purchase

Sorry but furniture drops faster than a rock. Only thing worse is a mattress. Places like NYC won’t even let you sell those due to bedbugs. I once bought expensive furniture and now in my late 40s I just don’t care. I found I get tired of it long before it wears out and I felt pain in losing so much money. I gave away $3000 of Ethan Allen bedroom sets when my kids grew up. Ouch. IKEA all the way. My last couch was $800 from Macy’s. It’s lovely. And I could give it away and not care.

And yeah, nobody will pay 300 for a 600 couch from Ikea. I once sold a 1500 couch for 90, I was happy someone took it away 😂

Microsoft GottaChill OP Feb 16, 2020

😧😧😧 1500 couch for 90 !!! How long have you used it for ??

PayPal argb Feb 16, 2020

About 4 years, it was from cb2. Nobody would take it for 300 200, then lowered it to 90. It got a little crunchy with use but in fair condition.

Try selling for 299 and lower to 199 if no one bites. Include proof of the original value (link to the online store), good photos, and anything else that would be useful for the buyer, like “disassembled”, “will help load in the car”, etc.

People willing to use other people's furniture are on a budget. Unless you come from a Royal family expect to get nothing.

Yes ., I am from a Royal family 👸🏻💃

You are asking 250 too much unless the couch is still in the box.

Do you live in doorman building with online community board? If so then post it there. I sold my couch and coffee table through my building community board. Facebook Market place is also has higher chance of selling from my experience.
