people are going to oci from companies like Lyft and Amazon. how many of you voting are actually recruiters?
What is OCI?
Oracle cloud infrastructure
I would say it comes after Microsoft and Amazon and before Intel.
Not even intel.
Why trashing Intel? Sure it had its glory days but still I dare anyone implement a most basic processor (on an FPGA even) and you'll realize how complex it is. There are a lot of technologies that we take for granted as application developers, under the so called "FAANG prestige".
Yea I think Intel is more prestigious for hardware as opposed to the software eng industry
Intel software talent is pretty solid, although the focus is different. Folks there are more focused on writing code that runs fast and makes efficient utilization of hardware resources. Or building libraries that enable developers to do so. See Intel's TBB (thread building block) library...Compare that to AWS SDK and you'll know 😂
I would assume recruiters go off market cap or cloud market share. Reality is it's all the same hires going in a circle cloud to cloud
If you are looking for prestige, stay away. We don’t want your kind.
People are only going there cuz theyre offering above market TC. Can't change a companies reputation that quickly tho.
Yup this, I literally met two people from oci interviewing at Amazon same day as me lol
Oracle is a declining company. It may last a few years or a few decades but the writing is on the wall. It’s damaged goods. Everyone I know who worked there was glad to leave and won’t go back. Might be a good temporary bounce if you want a paycheck and some solid experience but keep job hunting.
Rememeber one thing son. We are slaves working in companies - there aint any prestige. You just serve the master that gives you the best TC.
^-- Same as
Double ouch
Never heard of it....that can't be good
