Referrals?

Hi all! I am currently an Art Director transitioning into Product Design. I have 9 years of experience in graphic design roles, albeit not UI/UX. I just started my hunt, looking at most entry to mid-level jobs and open to all and any company referrals if your org has open roles! #design #interviews #ui/ux

Do you have a product design portfolio? The background in graphic design is awesome, and it sure as heck translates but you’ll want to demonstrate as much product thinking as you can. I made the same transition 8 years ago. You’ll be glad you did!

About 5 years for me and same. But yeah, especially now you need a solid portfolio with case studies showing that you understand an informed approach to UX.

You have a better chance with roles that are UI and visual focused. Product thinking takes a while to mature and can be learned observing product managers and other product designers. I recommend that angle if you want to get your foot in the door faster! Put up some gorgeous UI work with motion design and prototyping to show them what you can do.
