Refershers at Amazon??
Hi wanted to know how are refershers at AWS offer as they dont have cash bonus per year. What would be average refershers offered per year at L5 level on Bay Area
Depends on your performance. Anyway, refreshers already happened this year. Next round is March 2020.
What would be an average refresher ? 1-2 or 3% ?
@goodgumbo is there a rough ball park value that you can think for L5 level?
Expect 0 or less than .7% unless you move up a band.
Is that on base or total comp? Iโm confused how refreshers work at amazon. Say I make $135k base with a tct of $200k, what happens?

Amazon uses a target comp system. Each year, you will get a very modest base salary raise of a percent or so, and if your following year estimated comp is below your target, you get a refresher grant vesting in the following (not current) year and the year after. In practice, for L5/L6 hires in recent years this has meant no refresher grants until your third year (impacting your fifth year comp) or a promotion. A top tier rating moves your target to top of band but this usually doesn't do much until after a promotion since industry hires usually come in high in band. Generally, the stock price increase is considered your raise. ๐
