So I stayed in Airbnb for a month, and while the stay left some burnt marks on the table. I also notified the host of the same and was willing to pay the damages as it was happening under my watch, and he was also cooperative for the first few days was asking me 400 euros for it. I know it was less expensive than that, but still, I believed that I should pay as it did it. But then suddenly, he started escalating the issues and said there were lots of things damaged, including the wooden floor and carpet( which he notified me of after 15day of the initial table incident). I was completely clueless at that time, and he raised the issue to Airbnb and asked for a reimbursement of 2500 euros, which is extremely hard for me to pay currently. Any way to Airbnb can take legal action against me or make me liable to pay even if I don't want to pay by some lawsuit or something like that? Since I'm not sure what the maximum Airbnb can do for me, I'm curious to know about it. The Airbnb team reached out to me about the same. Should I respond to it and explain my side of the story? And what's the maximum amount the Airbnb team can extract from me? #travel
Definitely explain your side of the story. It is possible the host didn’t thoroughly check after every guest, but now after you mentioned damages they inspected everything and found what other guests may have done and never said anything. Airbnb has an insurance coverage for the hosts called Aircover, and the host will be compensated. For you the worst would be that they will ban your account on their platform, it doesn’t sound like they have a bulletproof evidence these issues weren’t there before you. Unless they had a cleaner take a detailed video of all these areas before your move in.
So I really don't worry about the ban to be honest. Really shitty experience. But even he has some kind of video what's the maximum amount which I have to pay. Since 300/400 euros is fine but 2500 is a outlandish claim to make.
You could always refuse to pay until they provide proof that you caused the damage and request quotes for the repair estimates.
Initially I agreed to pay 400 but he was fine for few day then after some day he make some more claims and then I was having some doubts as I didn't did it to my knowledge. So he raised the issue tk Airbnb and they reached out to me!
Yeah, I would say the same thing to Airbnb asking for proof and estimates. I saw a post in the past of someone in your same situation and after many back and forth emails the charges were dropped because the host did not provide evidence of who caused the damage.
😂
Another reason not to use AirBnBust
You’d be banned. Consider this a sign from god to avoid airbnb like a plague
🤣🤣
Why can’t you stay in a place and not fuck it up?
Why can’t you stop yourself from making unhelpful comments? Same reason
It’s a legitimate question. Only children burn countertops Dis you? “You’d be banned. Consider this a sign from god to avoid airbnb like a plague” how is that helpful?
What worries me is that you didn't say if your party caused the damage. Whether or not it's easy to pay for you isn't really relevant.
So according to you I should not say anything to Airbnb team, that it was partly my mistake. And wait wand watch statergy, and most probably they will ban me!
According to me, you should tell us if your party caused the damage. If that is the case, the right thing to do is to work with them and find a reasonable resolution. If that is not the case, you should tell them about that. I'm not sure what this post is. Are you saying "I broke an airbnb but don't want to pay for it?" If that's the case, idk how to help you, I have no life experience in being immoral.
Cancel your CC so you can’t be charged
Will remove it now. Thanks for the advice
Removing is not enough. They can still charge. freeze it as well for the time being
It’s your mistake for reporting the damage. Now that he has to do paperwork for the $400, he figured he might as well get reimbursed for all the damage that previous tenants did.
So what should be the optimal strategy. Should I not say that I damaged the Countertop and ignore the emails?
Just tell AirBnb that the house was the way it was when you checked in. Don’t admit to any damages unless the host can provide proof. Without proof the credit card company will take your side if you decide to do a chargeback.

Why'd you stay at Airbnb. And no they cannot take legal action against you. What country is this in? I have met some asshole Airbnb owners and since my shitty experience with $800 a night villa, I have stopped using them altogether
So I stayed in Germany. I was trying to be nice to him, but by his motive he wanted to take advantage of me!
