I was referred by someone at Google and sent my resume for a role that was posted 6 months ago. I just got notice that they have decided to not continue with my application. I feel that my resume was quite strong (apparently not strong enough)! I have been invited to their office several times to share my opinion within the field that I work in and several Google employees have said "Why are you not working here?". Feeling a bit low because I really wanted that position! I would love to know where I could improve and then work super hard towards that. - Should I ask for feedback? - I still have two weeks to apply with that referral for another position, should I go for it? Thanks!
Dude, email this guys you worked with at Google, get a manager to vouche for you.
He referred me together with very high recommendations he said.
Forget him, get the recommendation from the hiring manager.
Diversity?
Were you looking for a tech role?
Developer Advocate!
Come to Twilio! HMU if you want a referral
Probably they’ve filled the role. Apply for another role or wait for similar role to open again.
I still don’t know how resume screening is this done. I referred a qualified candidate to a generic role that my team is hiring for, told my manager and he agreed to put him through when he comes up. The guy got rejected before the resume even reached my manager wtf...
Just curious.. what did you end up doing? (It happened the same to me)
I'm going to apply for 2 other roles!
ALWAYS ask for feedback. I do right before I leave/hang up from an interview. It shows you are willing to accept criticism hopefully in a positive way.
I got the notice via mail. I asked and they immediately responded that they will give me some pointers by phone. I also got the feeling that I still have a chance, depending on how the call goes! Interesting! I'm going to prepare soooooooo hard tonight!!
Probably isn't because your background or something, they might already filled up the role.
Thanks! That's what I'm really hoping. There isn't a role open that would fit me as good as that one! But I think I will try for another role since my referral is still active!
I thought google hires first then worry about role later
