How many of you have got offer from facebook and rejected it because of bad work life balance ? How many of you quit/about to quit fb because of work life balance ?
Recently left FB for Google cuz of WLB, and did indeed find much better balance there. At FB its just sprints on top of sprints on top of sprints. My old manager never cared about burnout. Im fine working a bit more for the job but the sad thing is it brings about nothing in return; manager couldnt even promise anything past a meets. Im happy now and would not regret my decision.
I deleted my fb account for good life balance
Try deleting Blind. People claim that helps even better: you stop thinking you’re underpaid.
Stop knowing the truth - delete blind. #ignoranceisbliss
Why would you go as far as getting an offer if you don't like the environment?
I've quit jobs due to WLB before, but most places I suspect it depends a lot on your team and manager. I'm sure there are plenty of both great and horrible managers at FB, just like everywhere else.
Except at FB you get to choose your team and manager, so if you end with with bad WLB it’s your own fault.
In my offer letter manager name is already mentioned. I was hired for Android role. Will I still go through bootcamp ?
Op, please work hard, don’t embarrass yourself in front of your family
How are teams in Seattle for WLB? Or it just varies no matter where you are? I had recruiter specifically tell me they value family life and WLB. I guess it was a sell job?
I’ve worked with several ex-FB engineers. They left specifically because WLB was very bad and they started a family and needed less high pressure work. I would turn down a FB offer if it didn’t come with fat stacks to compensate me for the lost time with my kids. What’s an extra 20-30k per year really? It’s not worth it.
LOL. You can tell yourself whatever excuse you want to believe for being too chicken to leave the country club. People that have bad WLB here chose to have bad WLB.
Shut up you tool that's false
Ohh yea great rebuttal there. Been here for years and never asked to stay after hours. If you can’t make it with good WLB that’s the idiots fault for being a shit engineer sneaking in through leetcode grinding. No sympathy.
I picked FB because of (good) work life balance. From what I've seen, most pressures my peers face are personal/internal. Caveat is that I'm still decently new.
Oh is it ? Before fb you were in which company ? I read fb has lot of stress and expectations are super high.
Work life balance has been better at FB than it was for me at Microsoft. Expectations are high, so you have to learn to work smarter.
