I have accepted an offer from Bloomberg as an intern and I am expecting an offer from Citadel after my final behavioural interview. I am also expecting an offer from Qube Research and Technologies. Would you renege on Bloomberg for Citadel for an internship, what about Qube RT? This is for London summer intern
Yes I’d renege
Would not renege. Bloomberg is a good place and getting yourself on their bad list this early on isn’t a good idea
I heard that bloomberg is very good for wlb, but not for pay, as in making 100K would probably take a couple of years or more at bloomberg. I think the TC for Citadel could be higher like 250K even early on
You'd make 100k quicker than that but it's give or take with these two choices. You'll always make more money at citadel. But your WLB will always be better at bbg. You are young, take the money. But you'll probably get burnt out in a few years and need to leave.
Citadel QubeRT are shady companies and skirting the law all the time. They don’t treat their staff very well. Top down, bossy and manager driven. Bloomberg relatively is a much better east coast finance and fintech company
The two have very different style as far as I know, and are in a highly regulated and monitored industry. This just looks like an uninformed opinion
Renege only for citadel
This ^
Try to do both if u can fuk school just delay a semester. All the cracked NGs I know did off season internships it's mad fun.
Go to Citadel at this stage. Later in your career you could move to BBG with ease. BBG to Citadel will be an insane shock culture and work environment wise. Also, BBG TC is not great for their expectations of being in office a majority of the week. Good luck.
Got to Citadel obviously. If a time comes when you want to go back to Bloomberg (highly unlikely), they would appreciate you reneging as that's the rationally correct choice.
How likely it is that Citadel would not give a return offer and do they fire their new grads?
Just check your crystal ball bro. Or just ask them if they can share numbers for return offer.
Dont burn the bridges
Does bloomberg blacklist people? As in do you think that if I applied again as experienced they would not hire me? I really like bloomberg because of wlb, but I was not sure if citadel would open up more opportunities for hedge funds/hft/top tech based on prestige
Bloomberg has “No rehire” policy. Means if anyone resigns from Bloomberg and want to come back, they can’t. but this for fulltime jobs Rules could be different for internships. I was in similar situation but I told them I am awaiting on results from couple of interviews. They usually give 3 weeks of time to candidate to sign the offer, They gave me 4. Unfortunately I got reject from other interviews I was rooting for and then I signed the offer.
Hey OP, how was your experience at Qube? Was it a hard interview?
No, Qube interview process for SWE is a joke. It was some CS OOP trivia like difference between overloading and overriding a method, time complexity of binary search tree, very basic, no multithreading or anything other than basics. Then I had a coding round which was 2 leetcode easy straight from leetcode in 1h. And now I have a HR left. For Quant Dev the process is much harder asking leetcode hard in first phone screen and the third and final technical it is also a hard number theory problem, but that is not from leetcode.

Single people, would you hire an escort to accompany you to company party?
IDK, just the name of QRT puts me off. It sounds a bit like a sort of knock-off HRT, in the same way you might see a knock-off fried chicken shop called 'QFC'
Lol probably just a coincidence
They were spun-out in 2018 so I kind of doubt it...
