Thank you AAPL and NVDA
For context, I’m a college student in the US. In summer 2020, I interned at Cisco*. They extended a return internship offer for summer 2021, and I accepted. But then I got another summer 2021 internship offer, from Facebook*. I strongly prefer FB to Cisco, so I accepted FB’s offer. Once my FB background check clears, I plan to tell Cisco that I won’t be coming back. However, I realized that during the FB background check, they’ll contact Cisco (because I previously worked there). Will the Cisco HR reveal that I accepted an offer to return to Cisco next summer? I’m just trying to avoid legal trouble while also making sure I don’t lose both offers. *Company names have been changed for anonymity #internship #offer #renege #tech #backgroundcheck
By Cisco* do you mean Capital One?
My lips are sealed
If the company doesnt have an online third party service to service background checks then it is recommended that you supply salary slips i stead. It is quicker that way
They have a 3rd party that handles background checks for them
In this example if Cisco has as third party/hotline. Big companies usually have this to avoid any legal issues.Requests dont go to a person.
Don’t you fill out a form or something where you can tell them to not contact your previous employer?
Dafuq dude, this is an anonymous forum and you are obscuring company names ??!!? 🤯 Background check has no check on reneging and accepting. They just call up the HR and confirm whether ya homie was actually a summer intern as listed in resume. No other side checks
