Anyone from Oracle sales that can provide insight is greatly appreciated. A recruiter (Talent Sourcer) from Oracle reached out on LinkedIn about a Sales Renewal role. No real info or insight, aligned with my interest so I said sure. She introduced me to the Principal Talent Advisor with whom I spoke with today. Sounds exciting, mid market- enterprise account management which aligns with my career goals. Based on my experience (5 years of consistently hitting quota) she put comp out in front explaining that the position offered 130-140, I said it was slightly below what I’m looking at but I’m flexible because of the reasons outlined above. I said this because having the name recognition AND fortune 500 company on my resume would be a huge boost for my career IMO Anyway, hoping someone from Oracle or previously worked there that is on blind could provide any insight into 1) their sales structure and expectations/WLB and 2) culturally is it a grind? Yes all sales is a grind but some orgs are more aggressive than others in my experience. I’m interviewing with some VP next because it’s their Q4 and the hiring manager is swamped.
So if the total is 130-140 for renewals that seems decent since you’re not bringing in new business. The sales culture at oracle is pretty bad, I will be honest. There are about 5 main sales reps that compete against each other in every account opposed to selling with each other. So you’ll have an on premise rep, cloud rep, applications, etc. all competing within an account which can get pretty feisty as everyone’s trying to shove their product to the decision makers. Not always the case, but very very common. But, if you’re renewal, you won’t really be in the fights I don’t think. You can message me directly for more insight regarding your specific org that you’ll be placed in and I can give more guidance
Great, thank you for the insight! I had a feeling about the competition but wanted to hear from someone on the inside. I actually don’t know a lot. I asked for a job description in my follow up. They probably didn’t provide a lot having the “we’re big and bad” mindset. Could be wrong, just a thought.
