Since AMZN HQ2 is likely coming up in VA, what are some good areas to buy rental property near Crystal City, VA?
There were already articles about investors snapping up properties in VA.
Crystal city is not geographically restricted in a valley or by bodies of water. The appreciation won’t be as significant as it would be in SF Bay Area or Seattle.
This ☝️
Seattle and SF have really distorted people’s view of reality.
Social is not dead in Seattle at all. Instead it’s close to Vancouver and all the natures you can have. It’s not a big city sure but there are a lot to do. Snowboarding in the winter is amazing and it’s couple hours drive to whistler. Working in Seattle and going to Vancouver for a weekend is amazing as well. I guess it’s not really a party city which NY and DC might provide more. And yes it’s dominated by IT companies which might make the culture not as fun as east coast. But on the other hand, I like stay closer to IT head quarters as a sde
Thanks for sharing — but you’re only supporting the notion that Seattle is teeming with arrogant gear heads who see everything and everyone as a part in their own personal machine.
I was actually wondering the same thing.
Buy in bay area. Best rental value
The DC area is already more expensive than Seattle. Just buy a rental property in Seattle instead. I don't know why people think there will be this big increase in housing values.
Seattle rental has been going downwards. Amazon’s HQ 2 can make people in Seattle move out. Many of my friends with family prefers going to DC area over Seattle due to too much focus on STEM and boys centric culture. Social science and human centric culture are lacking in this area. Social is almost dead here due to weather, too many people hanging around in their own circle only etc.
Second this. I mean, I guess you could invest in one of the condo high rises along Route 1/crystal drive or the places by Pentagon City Mall, there are new townhouses down closer to Alexandria, or maybe across the river in the new SW DC waterfront, but it’s not like you’re going to pick up any of those for a song. Crystal City has not been cheap in about 10 years; people who live there think it’s become a happening place. I still think it’s a soulless canyon of ugly high rises and hotel chains, but to each his own. Boeing just built a big office there a few years ago, and there’s, you know, the Pentagon right there, so this isn’t an economically depressed area.
