Microsoft has an internal conference called MLADS for machine learning and data science. The bar is not that high, lets be honest. If I have published some papers or present a poster at the conference, how should I put it on my resume, if at all? People from other companies probably don’t even know about MLADS (unless they’re ex-MSFT). So it’s much different than if I had a paper at NIPS/etc. MLADS participation definitely looks good for promotion purposes, but I’m not sure how much value it has, if at all, if I’m trying to move outside MSFT..
I think it is worth putting it on your résumé as an "internal conference" with the rough number of attendees. You can use it to demonstrate initiative and presentation skills. Being able to express and explain your ideas and ML expertise to a large group of people is a hirable skill for certain teams
