Resume preparation

Do you or have you guys used professional resume writer service to build your resume. Specially with completion of 100s of application for a position in tech., was wondering if it would be useful or land up getting me an interview. Any recommendations, suggestions ? or would you like to share experience of before and after? I have 12 yrs of experience in business intelligence, analytics and reporting platform but nothing’s getting me an interview - wondering if it’s resume?

Might not be the resume. You need referrals. If you stick your resume online, the chances of it getting someone's attention is very low.

That’s true . I don’t usually have referrals

Without referrals you are not going to get anywhere

It could be your resume. Resume writing is an art. I have seen resumes of ppl with lots of work exp but unable to sell themselves. Since I was an international student with 0 YOE, I worked my ass of to polish my resume and at the end it worked very well in getting a job. So yea, work on your resume. Some tips: 1. Quantify every single bullet point in dollars of %improvements 2. Explain what impact you made 3. Your bullests should be in Action-Context -Resukt format. 4. Include leadership, teamwork, communication with key stakeholders, project management, multidisciplinary work for maximum sexiness. 5. Show your resume to strangers and ask them what do they think about you. If you get answers that you don't expect, it's time to change the content is your resume. 6. Avoid summary 7. Focus more on experience, 3 bullet points for each position. 8. Skills and tools at the bottom

Thanks sbsjsj, I always get confused which one is better the long resume or 2 page resume I have both version - in all my previous roles(almost 5 companies) I had been using long resume - so not sure if long resume still works or it’s outdated from recruiter point of view. Just started applying with short resume and I am not getting calls. I try to target and highlight required skills but it’s not working so far

Since you have 12 years if experience, a CV (2 page resume) makes more sense

A 2-pager is too long. One-pager is the standard in tech. Always keep it a single page. Recruiters spend less than 30sec to glance at a resume. Keep everything concise and only highlight the impacts.

My company provides resume and LI profile feedback. We all used to work in recruiting. We won’t write the whole thing for you but most people already have a resume they need feedback on. Message me and I will share how it works.
