Am getting only 1-2 responses per every 100 applications I send out. I suppose that there is something wrong with my resume. Please be blunt and straight to the point. New grad. Its like im fishing in the desert rn.
It is a desert right now, this isn't 2015
I think this is a solid resume
if i were you, i would simplify the language "agile methodologies allow our team to develop iOS native app, which allows them to track football players" 🧐 just say "worked with the team to develop native iOS app to track football players"
"engineered cross platform application (electron) for tracking over 3000 active/decayed commercial satellites" to "developed a cross-platform application using electron to track over 3000 commerical satellites"
Yes and you can use ChatGPT to make these improvements for each bullet. The only other thing I would say is remove columns. ATS systems do not like columns and other funky formatting. Also keep in mind it is all about networking and not blindly sending resumes.
First impression, from a 30second scan is that this is a students resume, recent grad with little experience. Reason - You start with your education. Your work section isn’t really showing impact, first line I saw in looking at your work experience is “agile methodologies”. I’m not SWE so may be wrong but you may want to be more punchy and show impact right away. Think about it, the first like from your work experience says “Agile methodologies allow our team to develop a IOS native app …” - I don’t think the grammar is correct. What did YOU do vs your team? Hope this helps some
This and also, it is way too much information for an intern's resume.
I am a student still but would it be helpful to move my education to the bottom portion of my resume?
Start your sentences with What’s the problem you solved? What impact you created that translates to physical world? What are your original ideas? How did you implement.? Your resume should have straightforward answers to these questions
Great point
I've had really good luck personally with a much slimmer resume. This isn't a bad resume but mine is a lot shorter, less sections. I have education at the top, work experience next, and then published papers at the bottom. That's all
Senior folks are being hired as junior engineers in this market. HR plays tricks in this market. I’d look for unpaid or jobs outside your domain to keep your resume non-empty.
Your resume is solid. The market is not solid.
Get rid of two columns in education secrion and the last row. Reduce the amount of stuff in your bullet points - it’s too much. Recruiters don’t care about the granularity of your work during an internship, the most important thing is to show the impact that you did. Look up the STAR method and use action verbs for resumes. Honestly get rid of the coursework
Probably cuz of the market situation. Doesn't seem like a resume problem
