I'm considering moving to LCOL area if I get laid off and coast firing for the next 25 years. My retirement nest egg is saved. It's projected to be around $10m by the time I reach retirement age. I just need a low stress job that pays the bills and provides insurance. What jobs should I target? Any downsides to this plan?
Govt/state remote job if you can find one.
Downsides? Sure, you’re working a shit job for a fraction of your current salary. What’s the great idea here? Why not work a few more years now at full salary and then quit for good? Honestly, I don’t fully get the coast/barista FIRE idea. You still don’t have time for yourself and earning like shit. I would understand it if you were working your current hourly comp but very few hours a week, otherwise doesn’t make much sense to me.
You don’t get it because you are correct.
what's your current NW and yearly expense?
