I have an offer from Stripe and Uber. How is the work culture in both these places? I am planning to move to India amidst all this chaos but don’t want to compromise on learning and growth. Which other companies can I target in India? What would you choose between Stripe and Uber? Offered TC from both is comparable and is not a factor in my decision making. TC : 410k at L5
What is the offered tc?
Depends on the team Stripe India has few interesting teams with good work, some doesn’t On the other hand Uber India has been here for a long time and has some critical projects to work on. But again highly subjective. [edited] Feel free to DM, I was at Stripe (India)
Go with Stripe. Uber might put you pip you with high TC.
Share offer and yoe else you won't get help
Hey OP, feel free to DM me if you have queries! I'm an IC in India. As others hinted lightly, your goals, level, expected experience and allocated team matter a lot for making this decision but both are great options so congrats either way :)
Got a few DMs so putting it out there - Stripe is hiring for some exciting roles in the infra org (and some other orgs too). Feel free to ping me if you have any questions :)
don't see anything on linkedin for stripe india, how to apply?
Stripe
Both pay really high compare to India market. I have friends working at both Uber and stripe and are extremely unhappy with the work. Quality of work at both places is extremely poor, you are at the mercy of leadership in US, keep begging for projects and you get some sh**y stuff. The problem is that no one in the current market will be able to match there salaries and it will become very hard to find a new job. Make your choice wisely, all the best 👍
Not entirely true, i know of friends in Uber and Stripe who are happy as well as few who are unhappy with the work. Depends on the team. From pay perspective none of Stripe or Uber pays that great today, they were paying like crazy in 2021-22, now the pay ranges have reduced by a level compared to last year
+1. Every reasonably big company will have good and bad teams. You should ask around to find out about the team rather than generalize. Also, bear in mind that with blind's anonymous posting, the negative feedback might be a notch higher than real-life.
