It's time to legislate right to disconnect. These guys text over weekends asking for a update on a bug. Guys start meeting with phrases"I did this much progress on weekends".... Everyone knows release date will be postponed, but they won't announce to keep the pressure on.. I got to work now and update. What do you think about right to disconnect? #RightToDisconnect
I leave my corp phone at work and it's never been a problem
Don't work over weekends and they will learn not to expect that of you.
Try to go to national parks/ forests on weekends!
Don't install slack on your phone. Don't get company email on your phone. At best get calendar and meetings app. Don't work on weekends unless it's something interesting, which you will know because you wanted to sit down and open your laptop, not because you got some notification on your phone.
You already have the right to set your own boundaries and limitations on your employer or leave.
As others noted, the key is setting boundaries. I don’t respond to emails or pings after 6pm, or at any time on weekends. So far, the world hasn’t ended and I’ve been advancing. People will treat you, and interact with you, the way you train them to.
