The severance package is very good
That is pretty generous
Minimum 6 months of salary. That's exceptionally good.
It baffles me that they have so much for money for people who won’t even be there for half the year.
This is one of the best severance letters. It’s human and just kind. I remember people working at Google for years being immediately cutoff. It was just disrespectful.
Yeah, it was very sincere. However you can’t compare a company of 4,500 to 200k. If you need to do mass layoffs and relay that to that many people, it’s hard to be both sincere, and risk adverse and quick at the same time. The chances of someone taking it badly and doing damage is exponentially more likely. With that being said, they handled it well. Even when compared to similar companies of their size.
That’s better than Google’s severance package.
Incredibly gracefully handled. It actually leaves Riot in a somewhat vulnerable spot. I really hope that the former employees feel humanized and respected throughout this
Damn I’m a big LoL player, hope these people find a new job!
6mo salary + tenured severance bonus + annual bonus paid + laptop for those who don't have one + career support + visa assistance(?) + 6mo counselling + $1,000 wellness/development fund I'm floored. I thought google reigned at the top of mass layoff support. Jassy could never.
Tbf, Google employees get paid a lot more
The severance package is great, if you're going to lay people off this is how you do it. It'll be a nice pay day for those who quickly land new roles.

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
Wow. I got an offer from them last year too that I declined. $278k TC if you’re wondering. Which for LA, in this climate, is not bad. And a pretty cool campus.
Why Reddit > Riot back then?
More TC, it’s fully remote, and the team was better (many from FAANG and at Reddit for 5+ years). The team at Riot wasn’t core so it seemed risky, and this layoff validated that. Not that Reddit isn’t risky, but I thought it was less so. Also didn’t want to be stuck in LA, tech scene isn’t great there.
