Crossed a line with my boss
Gotten offer from both in bay area Google TC: 270K average without refresher, 300K average with refresher Robinhood TC: 296K without refresher + 50K sign-on, refresher from Y2 targeting 1/4 of initial grant on average, earning 50k less at Google for first year Where to go early in career? 2.5yoe, WLB + future prospect Will having Google on resume open up more doors? How's Robinhood growth? Which would help me learn to be a better engineer?
Yes
Yes to what?
To Google opening more doors and having better wlb!
Google for so many reasons
For example? low TC though
*lower, not low. Keep it real. 🤗
Robinhood. Why is this even a question? Maximize your growth opportunities at early career stage
What sort of growth will RH have over Google?
Just look at how their head counts have changed in the past few years? The faster the company grows, the faster your career progression will be.
Are these both L4 offers?
yeah
Google level?
L4
Nice. I'd pick Google for wlb and brand name.
Robinhood is a faster growing company with more opportunity for personal growth in a professional sense but also financial sense through potential RSU growth. Plus looks like they’ve been able to hire some pretty great senior ICS and EMs so should be a good place to learn from others.
Aren't both top tier tech companies in terms of reputation (in terms of pay). I doubt you would get more opportunities for one over the other. If Robinhood developers cannot get interviews, then most developers are screwed. And that's not the case. Opportunities in tech == Your skills in Leetcode and System Design. Also, Google is much bigger than Robinhood. Chances are, you will be promoted faster at Robinhood (more growth). So even for leveling, I feel Robinhood would straight up be better. Last thing you need early on is very slow promotions at Google.
make sense about promo, but I am always open to hopping for higher levels
Seems you have already made up your mind here. You just need someone to validate.
